JOB TITLE: Homecare Assistant
HOURS: Full and part time hours available. Availability for morning work from 7.30am, two evenings or more and one day at the weekend
PAY: Hourly rates from £7.50 - £10.50 per hour
TRAINING: Free induction training and training to Diploma in Health & Social Care Level 2. Support for continuing professional development
ANNUAL LEAVE: 20 Days (pro rata) plus 8 Bank Holidays (pro rata)
TRAVEL: All travel expenses are paid using current oyster card rates or 40p per mile calculated using google maps/AA road planner
PENSION: Employer contribution of 3% of pay to pension when employee contributes matching 3%. (After passing probationary period)
KEY PURPOSE: To deliver care services to clients in their homes in Croydon
REPORTING TO:  Care Co-ordinator’s / Care Services Manager
Homecare Assistant (Carer) - Job Description
The following job description sets out the kinds of tasks you will be asked to undertake. In addition there may be other responsibilities set out at the beginning of the agreement with the client and other responsibilities that arise from time to time.
Homecare Assistant Job Description:
• Preparing meals and washing up
• Support with shopping and running errands
• Domestic and household tasks
• Correspondence assistance
• Leisure and social activities.
• Record keeping
• Support to primary carer
• Washing, bathing and showering
• Getting up and going to bed
• Changing bed linen
• Using the toilet and maintenance of continence
• Assistance with moving and transfers
• Help during the night
. Person Specification - Homecare Assistant Responsibilities:
• Arrive at the agreed time ready to work.
• Give notice if going to be more than ten minutes late.
• Respect the privacy of the person you are working for and maintain a professional approach at all times, being careful to treat working relationships as private and confidential, this means details of the kind of personal, domestic and administrative assistance provided.
• Understand and be mindful of the older / disabled person’s right to dignity, respect and independence.
• Communicate and discuss any problems that arise as soon as possible with the older / disabled person.
• Respect employer’s possessions and equipment and only use the telephone, television, radio etc with the appropriate consent.
Homecare Assistants will be:
• Reliable and trustworthy.
• Able to work on own initiative as required; to work under the guidance of the older / disabled person, and to work as part of the care team
• In good general health.
• Able to accept responsibility and positive about care work
• Willing to learn the job
• Committed to equal opportunities in attitude and the way in which work is carried out.
• Able to understand health and safety issues
• Able to communicate effectively in English
